Funding your month
Sprigly works one calendar month at a time. At the start of each month you fund your envelopes — the “give every dollar a job” step — and from there your balances simply track what you spend.
Allocate your money
Open the funding screen and you’ll see your envelopes alongside how much is waiting in Available to be assigned. Move money into each envelope until the work is planned. As you do, Available counts down — when it reaches zero, every dollar you have has a place to be, and your month is fully planned.
Before you start, Sprigly shows what carried over from last month and each envelope’s target, so you have the context to decide where money should go.
Confirm and you’re funded
When you’re happy with the split, confirm it. Sprigly marks the month as funded, so it always knows whether the current month still needs your attention. You can come back and adjust at any time — funding isn’t locked.
Carry-over
You don’t lose what you don’t spend. At month’s end, whatever is left in an envelope rolls forward into the next month, so a category can build up over time. The same is true in reverse: if an envelope ended over budget, that shortfall carries forward too, so nothing is quietly swept under the rug.
If plans shift mid-month and one envelope needs more than it has, you can shuffle money between envelopes — see Moving money.
