Set up your first envelopes, give your money a job, and land in a budget that's ready to use.

Sprigly is an envelope budgeting app. Instead of guessing what you’ll spend, you start with the money you actually have and give every dollar a job — rent, groceries, transport, a little for dining out. Each envelope holds what you’ve assigned to it, and nothing more. If that idea is new to you, the blog post Why envelope budgeting works is a gentle place to start.

The first time you open the app, Sprigly walks you through a short setup so you finish with a budget that’s already working.

Set up your categories

You’ll create your first envelopes — one for each thing you spend on. Start with the handful you reach for most: groceries, rent, transport, dining out. You can always add more later, so don’t worry about getting it perfect.

Fund your envelopes

Next, you assign the money you have on hand into those envelopes. This is the heart of the method: when every dollar has a place to be, there’s no vague “available balance” to overspend from.

You’re ready

Once your first budget exists, setup steps aside and you land in the main app. From here you can record what you spend, adjust as life changes, and watch each envelope’s balance move in real time.
